7 December 2011: EIF's director on ATV

On 7 December at 21h55, EIF's Director Gerda Falkner appeared on a TV panel discussion on small states' role in the EU and on latest Eurozone crisis developments, with several Austrian top politicians (Christoph Matznetter, Ulrike Lunacek, Hanz-Christian Strache).

October 2011: New EIF staff, incoming from ETH Zurich and Harvard

Vessela Hristova (postdoc, Phd from Harvard University) started her work on the EU's consumer protection policy at EIF, and Guido Schwellnus (senior postdoc, previously ETH Zurich) began his work as EIF's expert in the EU's anti-discrimination policies with regard to age, handicap, religious and sexual orientation, etc.

 

Latest publication / EU crisis

Zdenek Kudrna, EIF's expert on the EU's financial markets and the current crisis, published in the world's leading journal in the field of EU integration (SSCI): "Cross-border resolution of failed banks in the EU after the crisis: business as usual" Journal of Common Market Studies, Vol. 50 No. 2 (online now). 

 

September 2011: New project collaborator

Ariadna Ripoll Servent (Phd from University of Sussex, UK) started as a fulltime project researcher on "The role of supranational institutions in EU Justice and Home Affairs", a project funded by the Austrian Fund for Research (FWF) and directed by Dr. Florian Trauner at EIF. 

 

July 2011: Call for papers

We are pleased to invite contributions to the Workshop on “Multi-level governance and partnership in EU cohesion policy”, which will be hosted by EIF and take place on 29-30 November 2011. The workshop is the first out of three workshops organized as part of the Regional Studies Association (RSA) Research Network on “Effectiveness, Added Value and Future of EU Cohesion Policy” in collaboration with CERI -Sciences Po Paris and European Policies Research Centre (University of Strathclyde). Please see the call for papers for more details. The deadline for the call is 31 August 2011.

 

February 2011: EIF featured in the Academy's Magazin 

Europeanisation is a main topic of the ÖAW's journal "Thema Forschung", no. 8, now available in print. The public relations team interviewed EIF Director Gerda Falkner and presented some of EIF's international projects, including our innovative refereed journal Living Reviews in European Governance. The results are presented in colourful short stories aimed at a wide readership.

 

February 2011: EIF-Working Papers Series joined ERPA

The Working Paper Series of the Institute for European Integration Research became a member of the European Research Papers Archive (ERPA) network.

ERPA is a continuously updated database for online working papers in the field of European integration research since 1998. Its powerful search-engine allows searches for authors, paper titles, publication dates, keywords, full text, or any combination of these. Furthermore, "Quick Search" updates you on the latest entries in the ERPA database. Also abstracts are available for many papers.

 

January 2010: Book in print with Oxford University Press

The EIF's collaborative research project on the EU's “joint-decision trap”, bringing together EIF staff and experts from international partner institutions including the Max Planck Society, the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin, Universities of St. Gallen, Bremen and Konstanz, has resulted in a book to be published by the Oxford University Press in May 2011.
