Anke Obendiek, BA MSc PhD

Short biography

Anke Obendiek is a University Assistant (post doc) at the Centre for European Integration Research (EIF) at the University of Vienna. As part of the research group on digitalisation-related policies in the European Union established by Gerda Falkner, her work focuses on the analysis of liberal and sovereigntist characteristics of internet governance in the EU.

Before joining the EIF, Anke was a PhD candidate at the Berlin Graduate School for Global and Transregional Studies and worked as a research associate in the project "Evolving Internet interfaces: Content control and privacy protection" at the Hertie School. She taught seminars on internet governance at the Free University of Berlin and the Hertie School.

Anke studied political science at the University of Edinburgh, the University of Hamburg and the University of Oslo and holds a master's degree in International Relations Theory from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Anke gained practical experience working for institutions including the German Federal Foreign Office, the German Institute of Global and Area Studies, and Wikimedia Deutschland.
