Short biography

Katharina Meissner joined the Institute for European Integration Research (EIF) as Assistant Professor (Universitätsassistentin) in September 2016. Before coming to Vienna, she was a PhD researcher at the European University Institute (EUI), Florence, Italy, where she was awarded her PhD in June 2016. Next to her research at the EUI, she was affiliated as a course instructor to the Ruhr-University of Bochum, Germany. Katharina holds a Master of Research from the EUI, a Postgraduate Diploma in Arts in Peace and Conflict Studies (with distinction) from the University of Otago, New Zealand, and a Diplom in Political Science from the University of Bamberg, Germany.

Parts of her research have appeared in outlets such as the Journal of Common Market Studies, the Journal of European Public Policy, Public Administration, or the Review of International Political Economy. Working at the intersection of European Union Studies, International Relations, and International Political Economy, her research interests include European Union politics and external relations, parliaments in the European Union, and Regional Integration.
